The Righteousness of Christ

Last night, at Women’s Discipleship, this is what I drew during service.

It’s a picture of a woman who is trying to do everything on her own.  The Bible says our righteousness is as filthy rags.  If she would just look up, she’d see that Jesus wants to cover her with His righteousness!  As born again believers, we have His righteousness available to us, but we often walk away without it, trying to do things on our own strength, and our own merit.  As it says in, John 15, He is the vine, we are the branches, and apart from Him, we can do nothing!  If this woman would just look up!  And if she’d see that the righteousness of Christ, ready to wrap around her, is a set of wings!  Wings that would carry her over her situation; help her to rise above the circumstance.  The righteousness of Christ is available to us, and it covers over our sins, blankets our iniquities, so we can go further and rise higher than we can on our own.

Isaiah 33 talks about the person who can withstand the consuming fire of God.  I believe a fire of revival is coming, and who will be able to carry the fire without being burned up by it?  The person who holds on to righteousness.  The one who does not allow their eyes and ears to participate in defilement.  Yes, we need to grab on to Jesus’ righteousness and walk in it, but as far as we are able, we need to make righteous choices for ourselves.  Choices to not participate in things of the world.  Maybe it means not watching that show on TV, not going to that movie, or not listening to that music.  We can control some aspects of what we allow to enter our minds.  Isaiah 33 says that the person who walks in righteousness, and guards what their eyes and ears partake of, not only will be able to withstand the consuming fire, but that God will also give them food and water — that person will be sustained, provided for, and taken care of!  I don’t know about you, but I want to be that person!

What do you think?
